In the Galaxy Zoo case Schwinsky had been working on galaxy photo analysis which intrigues almost every astronomy student, since there are thousends of them he could complete hes photo analysis by sharing hes photos and suggesting those students to do this relשtively simple work for him. By himself he would have never finish doing it but with the help of thausend of those volunteer students the work was done by only a couple of hours only.
In my opinion this idea could be implemented in an univercity as well. While students are preparing for an exam they often have trouble finding some good understandable material to study from, and when they finaly collect the material bit by bit they don't have enough time to study it properly. I think that if students would collaboratly search for material for a certain exam they would find it a lot faster and save the extra time to actualy read it and understand it.
Even though there are forums in which students are able to ask thier teachers and other students questions, I didnt see anyone sharing sources of material to study from. This frostrates me because everyone searches for it, and instead of a having collaborative effective search, a lot of expensive time goes to waste.

i just have a small question for you ! What do you think about the fact that in a case like Galaxy Zoo there is a chance that some of the people that helped him (since it was something on internet and something apparently open to everybody) have no background in astronomy?
They required that all the collaborators undergo a tutorial. The article mentioned these limitations--ie that a laymen must have enough tools to properly participate in the research. Perhaps if the ideas mentioned in last weeks article, that the way by which people access higher level academia becomes easier, more people can become better educated and participate on a wider range of projects. Additionally, there should be some peer review process that if there is a large pool of people participating in a project then you could have several people analyze the same data to arrive at more accurate results.
