The Mesh

I found what Ms. Gansky had to say very relevant in today's changing world, especially her thoughts on how 'The Mesh' is expanding beyond the digital world to become incredibly useful in physical industries as well. I would have liked to see a bit more supporting evidence outside her own personal experience, but I understand this is simply an introduction.

One of her ideas did resonate a great deal with me -- in light of this course, and the ideas we are pursuing. It was, "In this fast-moving environment, it has become an essential business skill to recognize, well ahead of your competitors, the discontinuity that generates new platforms, models, expectations, and brands. See it first. Act. Win" This quote summarizes exactly what I hope to gain from this class, and hopefully we can all build something new, interesting, and useful.

One note: I inquired as to where Mr. Martin gets his trees from, or if he grows them from seedlings -- his website only presents where they are stored throughout the year, and where they are donated etc... -- Still waiting on a reply.
